[1] This decree was passed at the Assembly in the theatre of Dionysos which took place after the City Dionysia (in Elaphebolion) and dealt with matters arising from the festival (presumably the honorand had performed a service connected with the festival). Cf. IG II3 1, 344 n. 1. The natural restoration for the location of the stele is therefore the "temenos of Di[onysos]". In light of the findspot of the stone on the other side of the Acropolis in the Agora, the restoration "temenos of Zeus" (tou Di[os]) has been suggested, but the sources speak of the Stoa of Zeus, never the temenos. Probably the stone had wandered from its original location prior to discovery.
